If you live in Linlithgow or the surrounding areas and travel regularly to watch Scotland upset World Cup finalists and then struggle against part-time fishermen then joining us is worth considering.

Benefits include first choice on tickets for every home game and organised travel to Hampden and back. However possible drawbacks may include spending your day with some very grumpy men and endless jibes about their receding hairlines.

WORLD CUP QUALIFIER DRAW MADE

Netherlands are the top seeds in Scotland's five-strong group for the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign after Sunday's draw in South Africa.

The Scots will also face Norway, Iceland and Macedonia in Group 9.

The Scots have risen to 14th in the world rankings after running close France and world champions Italy during qualification for Euro 2008.

Europe has nine qualifying groups and the Scots have been drawn in the only one not to contain six teams.

Only the team finishing top automatically qualify for the finals, with the best eight runners-up facing play-offs for the remaining four places.

While the results against the team finishing bottom will not count in the other groups, all those in Scotland's group will as Group 9 does not contain a sixth seed.

UKRAINE TICKETS SOLD OUT

As has been publicised in the newspapers all tickets for the forthcoming Ukraine game have sold out. LADTA no longer hold any spares for this match as they have been allocated to the non-SSC contingent among us.

Bus arrangements – Leaving the Star & Garter at 11.30am sharp, all supporters are asked to be in the Star for 11.15am to ensure we are not held up. Rutherglen Snooker Club is booked with “Eriskay” lined up for entertainment. Thanks go out to the Halbeath TA and the Divit Xiles TA for organising the band.

ITALY MATCH – NOTE TO NON-SSC MEMBERS

We are soon to purchase Italy tickets, all SSC members within the LADTA have requested their full allocation of two tickets each for this match. This obviously means that there are no spares for the non-SSC members (unless they are being covered by a fellow SSC member in the LADTA), so anyone coming across any for sale should snap them up at the earliest opportunity. This situation is one we envisaged with LADTA members not signing up for the SSC, to avoid future disappointment log onto www.scotlandsupportersclub.com and sign up for your two year membership in January, priced at £40 it is well worth it and save the hassle of a panic on public sale day!

30.09.2007

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS NOW DUE

All LADTA members are now due their £10 annual fee, this can be paid to the membership Secretary or the Treasurer at your earliest convenience. Failure to pay your membership may result in losing your discounted bus price (although we don’t envisage any problems in this area).

ST ANDREWS DAY DISCO

Social Convenor David Patterson has organised a disco for the next LADTA social night. This will be held at Linlithgow Bowling Club on the Friday 30th November 2007. All members and guests/friends and family are welcome, the main aim for this night is to build on the cameradarie already blooming within the LADTA while at the same time raising a few pounds for the club. A buffet plus entertainment and a raffle will be a few of the events going on throughout the evening and the added bonus is that drinks are at Bowling Club prices! Tickets are priced at £6 each.

LADTA ANNIVERSARY

It has been one year since the LADTA started following Scotland when we defeated the Faroes 6-0 at Parkhead. Since then we have held a 100% home record, lets hope this continues! Congratulations and thanks to all members for making the club such a success in the first year!

UTTERLY FAD-TASTIC! FRANCE 0 SCOTLAND1

Scotland secured an incredible Euro 2008 double over France courtesy of a James McFadden strike in Paris.

The French threw everything at the Scots in the Group B qualifier in the Parc des Princes but could not find a way past goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Tens of thousands of Tartan Army foot soldiers had made the journey to Paris to cheer on the side more in hope than expectation.

France looked menacing in the opening 10 minutes and Ribery's cross after a lung-bursting run down the right-hand side was cleared by central defender Stephen McManus.

Scotland were failing to keep possession and were camped in front of their 18-yard box with little sign of putting the French under pressure.

McFadden stunned the French when he collected the ball 30 yards out and sent a rasping drive towards goal which Landreau could only help into the net.

The goal stung the French into further attacks, but the Scots' rearguard held firm.

Scotland held on to record a second win against the World Cup finalists, following the 1-0 victory at Hampden last October.

Scotland now lead the way in Group B, the table can be viewed at the top of the page by clicking on Matches.
