Initially Douglas
& Alison Stewart set up a Fencing and Blacksmith Company operating from
their smallholding in Dechmont, West Lothian.
As the Company grew, the business was re-located to larger premises at the
Wimpey Yard in Uphall. However, Mr Stewart, along with his son-in-law Rab
Elder, realised the need within the Fencing industry for a reliable
supplier of all materials – gates, railings, posts etc. It was at this time
that he decided to split the Fencing and Blacksmith Company and form the
manufacturing business of Loaninghill Fabrication Company Limited.
In 1990 land was purchased within East Mains Industrial Estate, Broxburn
and a factory/workshop was erected. The Company currently operate from this
site.
The Company is very much a family affair. Although Mr & Mrs Stewart
retired in the early 90’s, both the Fencing and Manufacturing businesses
are still run very successfully by their two son-in-laws, Rab Elder and
Allan Turnbull. The Company currently supplies most main fencing
contractors in Scotland.
Within the main office Mr & Mrs Stewart’s two daughters – Carol
Turnbull & Sheila Elder deal with all accounts, payments and general
day to day running of the “back” office. All estimating work is carried out
by Mr David McGowan, who has worked in the Fencing Industry for 16 years –
