Recent Activities
We attended the Washington Piper's Association (WPA) on April
1st and a small group presented the MSR for comments.
At the May 6th
WPA meeting three members competed as individuals. Dave placed
1st in his category and got Aggregate. Patrick placed 2nd.
Steve Campbell competed as a drummer. (Unfortunately the WPA
does not have the results of their May competitions on their web
page so get to me on this Steve. Thanks, D)
On June 8 P/M
Dave piped for the Oregon Institute of Technology Graduation,
which he has done for the past four years as well.
At the Tacoma
Games we competed as a quartet coming in second after the Gordon
Pipe Band. We were happy to see Bernie Rudsit and wife Julie.
Bernie has been an inactive member for the past two years and
our hopes are he will be coming back to playing. Bernie and
Julie joined Dave and Monica, Bob and Ellen Guthrie, Patrick
Fly, Stephanie Sprinkle, and yours truly for dinner at the local
Keg restaurant after the games.
We played at
the Bothell 4th of July Parade and Revolutionary War
Reenactment. In addition to our pipers Roy Cotton, Patrick Fly,
Bill and Dave and Jim Guthrie, and Bob Wood and drummers Carrie
Cameron, Steve Campbell, Mike Guthrie D/S, Sarena Hyman, C.J.
Johnson and Cassandra Vogel, we were joined by piper Jennifer
Guthrie from the Kentucky United Pipes and Drums and Kendra
MacLeod, tenor drummer, and Alex MacLeod, piper, from the
Northwest Junior Pipe Band.
Following the
parade and Reenactment we were joined for a picnic organized by
Dave's Monica and Stephanie Sprinkle at the local park by Bob
and Ellen Guthrie and Jennifer's parents who live nearby.
This was, by
the way, Carrie's first time playing with the band. She arranged
for the summer practice location at the Shoreline U.U. Church at
14724-1st N.E. to be held at the usual practice time on
Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30pm.
At the Skagit
Games July 8th Mike Guthrie placed 1st in Grade 2 Snare and
Sarena Hyman placed 1st in Grade 1 Tenor competitions. Congrats
to both of you.
Thank
you and congratulations to all mentioned above where it is
appropriate, and for anyone left out I apologize.
